Singapore

Singapore is a sovereign city state and one of the smallest countries in the world. The unique architecture, the numerous shopping malls and an multifaceted cuisine make Singapore to a city of superlatives.

And certainly the most impressive part for me are the bright lights after sunset.

I was really overwhelmed while walking along Marina Bay's waterfront and having this fantastic view of the bay, the skyline and the Marina Bay Sands.

Especially the Fullerton Bay Hotel, which is located at 80 Collyer Quay, made my heart beat faster. This place is the definition of luxury and has besides an outstanding view also very elegant spots for dining.

The Gardens by the Bay represent a recreational area for the city's population. So this public green space has impressive supertrees, cooled conservatories, lakes, bridges and pavilions.

Another great spot is the Marina Bay Street Circuit, which is the venue of the Formula 1 World Championship that takes place at night. It's actually pretty cool to walk on the racetrack where Vettel, Alonso and Hamilton are giving their best to win the cup.

Concluding there are two more useful facts about Singapore:

  • Orchard Road is the main shopping street where you will find all the leading luxury brands and famous stores like Zara, H&M, ESPRIT, etc. But don't spend all your money on the 2,2 kilometre (1,4 miles) shopping strip, because there are shopping malls all over the city where you can get the latest fashion.

  • Singapore's climate is classifield as tropical rainforest climate, which means that all year round you can expect hot and humid conditions and frequent rainfall. So make sure that you always carry an umbrella while visiting the city.

Fall foliage in New Hampshire

Last weekend my husband and I went on a hiking trip to New Hampshire. The leaves weren't at their peak yet, so we avoided the tourist influx and enjoyed the silence.

Our first stop was the Wellington State Park. The park offers great hiking trails, a sandy beach and lovely picnic areas.

Just about 7 miles north of the park is the Sculptured Rocks Natural Area. This geologic formations are unquestioning worth a stop. But see for yourself!
